An Ode To Wanderlust
I love to travel. I’ve been all over the world. A couple of trips to New Zealand and Australia. Time in Thailand. Handfuls of visits to Europe - including almost a month backpacking alone. And I have proudly been to all but 3 states in the US (N&S Dakota and Alaska.) In fact, one time I was getting into a taxi in Paris and out popped the man I was strapped to while skydiving in Kauai several years prior.
But in the past four years, my travel has slowed down considerably. Why? I had two sons. Yes, pregnancy and newborns can put a bit of a damper on the whole “let’s explore the world” mentality.
But now that our boys are almost 2 &4, my husband and I can not wait to show them the world. After all, they did travel to Greece & Italy in my belly.
The more you travel, the more you realize, we are all the same - with beautiful differences that should be celebrated. And even though the boys may not remember every detail of every trip because they are so young, my hope is that this experience will change the fabric of their being and invoke a sense of compassion, curiosity and a spark of wanderlust embeded within them forever.
